people are omnivores, i do not think it is healthy to just eat vegan … can’t improve on nature, no matter who is arrogant enough to think they can

To say that humans are omnivores, is a generalization. It is similar to saying: “All US soldiers are passionate baby killers.” I would never dare to say, that all US soldiers are passionate baby killers, even if there is ample evidence to support this claim, because I cannot completely rule out, that some individuals in the US military are not passionate baby killers (Bradley Manning for instance).
I also would never dare to say, that people who eat meat, are oblivious to the suffering of animals on meat farms and in slaughter houses, to the cruelty of hunting, to mass extinction, and to the ecological costs of meat production.
I don’t make such generalizations and I’m aware that people can have a hard time to reduce their meat consumption. Medical studies show, that the gut tissue changes in response to diet and becomes more receptive to substances which are plentiful in meat but scarce in plants if one switches to a plant based diet. But this tissue changes take a long time. I’m a vegetarian for thirty years but it took me some twenty years to slowly decrease my consumption of dairy products to the present level (cheese in homeopathic doses).
I don’t blame you for defending your meat consumption, but I suggest that you inform yourself about meat production from an ethical and ecological point of view.
